One of things that I managed to absolutely memory hole because it's not in front of my face 100% of the time, since I'm still waiting for my gpu to arrive, might as well edit them and upload.
''4 elements'', done in watercolor, gouache, ink, Posca Markers

this is frying me
Ozai is so pathetic, like that “take his bending away haha he’s harmless now” trick would never have worked on Zuko, if you took his bending away he’d just grab his swords and come at you twice as hard, Azula doesn’t have swords or anything but she’s pretty good at hand to hand and amazing at talking her way out of problems, Iroh bust himself out of prison with no bending at all, meanwhile Ozai? Gets his bending taken away and then just collapses, doesn’t even try anymore, then just sits in prison and tries to get into Zuko’s head some more, he could have trained up and tried to break out too! But no! Bet he can’t break steel bars with his bare hands. Bet he can’t kick a steel lever in two. Bet he can’t even do a flip.
Also we never really see him do any really impressive firebending apart from when he has magic comet power, I guesss he shoots some lightning at Zuko, but that’s it and Azula is still better at the lightning thing. Azula has blue flames. Zuko can do firebreakdancing and bend with his swords. Does Ozai, who is not 14 years old, have blue flames? No he doesn’t.
He didn’t even do his coup himself, Ursa had to kill Azulon for him! Could have just challenged Iroh to an Agni Kai for the throne but he didn’t bc he knew he’d lose.
And then he only ruled for like 6 years! He lost a war that had been going on for 100 years bc of a bunch of kids.
Loserlord indeed

The warden was a terrible person but a Great uncle. Like mans caught the runaway prince and was like "yes I will hand you over to the authorities but first ☝️my darling niece needs some closure". Oh to read the letter that the warden must've sent Mai about randomly finding her dissapearing ex in his super high security prison.
And the fact that he apparently not only got Mai our of jail, but also Ty Lee. Which is sweet.
Also love how Mura is a cute little old lady, Michi is a smokeshow and their brother is...

Some headcanons for Wizzy characters:
Headmaster Ambrose concocted and drank elixir vitae when he was young, which granted him deathlessness but not agelessness
He's also a Necromancer with internalized anti-Death prejudice
Old Cob is good at textile arts (b. because. he's a spider—)
Bat tends to freak out when understimulated because it reminds him of the eons he spent in the Black Hole
Mellori loves cold weather, especially snow, and typically refuses to wear a coat, scarf, or gloves when out playing in it
After Malory's death, Morganthe repressed her memories of him, including her grief over losing him and her anger at the hand he played in his own demise, because remembering him and feeling the weight of all her sorrow was too much for her to handle; unable to bring herself to forgive him for ruining their idealistic lives, she simply chose to forget him entirely
Morganthe also drank elixir vitae as a young girl, having concocted it in a bid to prove to Headmaster Ambrose that she was capable of being his apprentice. Headmaster Ambrose was horrified, and this is what convinced him that Morganthe's boundless curiosity and love of magic had to be reined in at all costs
Dyvim Whitehart loves sunflowers
Pork is polyamorous; Beans is his partner and Khan is basically a very close friend with benefits
Avatar: The Last Airbender headcanons:
Zuko is all but blind in his left eye, but his hearing is very sharp
Katara tends to play with her hair loopies when she's feeling nervous or insecure
Ursa was not a bender, but she was a very accomplished martial artist. She handed Ozai his ass a few times when sparring with him early on in their relationship
Toph eventually goes full-blown no-contact with her parents due to their continuous refusal to respect her autonomy, which is very painful for her
Zuko was born severely premature (on the winter solstice, which the Fire Sages considered an ill omen) and almost didn't make it. He struggled with poor health throughout his infancy and early childhood and finally started getting a little stronger as he approached adolescence
Azula was born the day after the summer solstice
Ty Lee is the third oldest of her sisters
Quick, share a headcanon about any character(s) you like that has nothing to do with their sexuality, gender, or whether or not they’re neurodivergent.

"He's gonna come back. He has to."
When it comes to the discourse about Katara's feelings in regards to being in a relationship with Aang, I feel like this moment from the finale often gets overlooked despite it being incredibly important. I believe this is for two reasons: 1 - The moment itself is relatively short. 2 - The moment in question occurs in the first scene of episode 3x20, the one where all of the characters begin their final push against the Fire Nation; therefore, it feels like what happens here is often forgotten about in comparison to everything else that happens afterwards. Regardless of this, I love how Katara responds to Zuko's worried feelings about Aang losing by responding with: "Aang won't lose. He's gonna come back. He has to." I totally understand and (partially) agree with people who wanted to see a conversation between Aang and Katara addressing what happened at the Ember Island Play in a separate scene before the final kiss at the end of the series. That is a completely valid thing to want. That being said, I think that what we did end up getting still works in that Katara's feelings about Aang are made clear to the audience without her having to explicitly say that she loves him. Some parts of the fandom will try and say that Katara was confused about the prospect of being with Aang because of her not knowing if she loved him in a romantic way; however, I feel that this moment at the beginning of the penultimate episode of the series pretty clearly shows that this wasn't what she was confused about. She was confused on if being with Aang before the war was over was the right choice given that one or both of them could be killed in the ensuing fight. Katara and Aang are the heart and soul of the show so it makes sense why the story ends with them beginning their romantic relationship, but I think from a broader perspective, it also helps convey the idea to the audience that these characters, among all of the others as well, can finally rest, recoup, and love each other to the fullest extent without the fear of the Fire Nation taking that away from them. Katara grew to love and believe in Aang, and I think this moment exemplifies that so well that I wanted to give it some recognition.

CRYIGN
I think we in the A:TLA fandom have missed the absolute potential of the fact that Ozai Firelord is canonically a fucking idiot. I mean the dude's straight up stupid. And I want to be very clear that this isn't a plot hole, this isn't a flaw in the show, this is a fantastic and super realistic element that honestly enhances my enjoyment of it! Dictators are often stupid and breed a culture of cronyism-over-competence. Any similarities with real world leaders, dead or alive, are coincidental yet inevitable.
What do I mean?
Well, let's take the Drill. When faced with the problem of Big Wall, Ozai's Fire Nation comes up with Big Drill. One singular Big Drill. Which, as anyone except an idiot could have predicted, immediately breaks down and accomplishes nothing. And if the Fire Nation had made it past the wall, then they would have been fighting through a narrow opening against people who can hurl long distance rocks! Which, if your face or body is vulnerable to high velocity rocks, is a bad thing for you and also for the battle.
Not to mention the resource cost of that thing! It's so insanely gigantic, it must have cost the Fire Nation the equivalent of trillions. For ONE drill. Not ten smaller drills. Just ONE drill. (Fanfic fuel: how much did Ba Sing Se profit off of stripping that drill for parts? Did they reverse engineer it? Did Long Feng keep that for himself?)
And you might be thinking, fairly, that it was War Minister Qin who came up with the drill and you'd be right, but it's Ozai who's approving all this shit. Instead of doing the reasonable thing and asking Qin if he et the whole edible, or even the in-character thing of burning him to death, Ozai just goes... big drill. Makes sense. We should have the biggest drill, because we are the biggest nation. Drill, baby, drill. sorry
It's not the first time, either! He also approves Zhao's invasion of the North Pole, apparently just because Zhao is good at kissing ass and hates Zuko? I couldn't tell you what merits Zhao has. We do not see him lead a single successful mission. The closest he comes is Pohuai, and even then its the Yuyan archers who do most of the work. (My longstanding headcanon is that the reason we don't see the Yuyan archers again is because Zhao blamed the whole thing on them and they were disbanded. This is great fic fuel for displaced Yuyan archers just, wandering around, being elite.)
He approved a massive naval invasion of the North Pole, surrounded by and made of water and ice, inhabited by people who bend water. A nation that was, by its own choice, completely out of the war.
Every time we see Ozai doing something, it's something stupid. Like disfiguring and banishing his firstborn child in a culture that has primogeniture. And then (once he's done pissing away a massive fleet of ships) he does the logical thing and sends his only other heir to bring his first heir back - even though his first heir would have been willing to return with a simple invitation. Like he could have sent a letter saying "dear son come home miss u pick up 200 000 tons of steel qin wants 2 build a drill lol", and Zuko would have come. (Okay, he did have a valid reason for having Zuko escorted, since he thought Iroh was a traitor, but there's absolutely NO reason to risk Azula. Why not send Combustion Man? It's the luckiest stroke of luck ever that Azula is 100 times more competent than her dad.)
Of course, a dictator(-wannabe) sending his daughter on high-level diplomatic missions is pure fiction. Nobody would do that.
The best part of this is that it's entirely realistic and in-character. I could absolutely imagine Ozai purging all of his competent admirals and generals, and then promoting brownnoses like Zhao and crackpots like Qin, because they promised him glorious destinies and secret knowledge of Big Drill.
I also really, really want a scene of Zuko and Azula realizing that their father is a fucking idiot.
I would also like to note that all this stupid shit happens after Iroh leaves with Zuko. So, here's a headcanon: the only reason the Fire Nation didn't immediately implode when Ozai took the throne and purged everyone is because of Iroh. Iroh leaving with Zuko doomed Ozai. It's also a nice little drop of complexity in Iroh's character - he knew he was single-handedly keeping the Fire Nation afloat, yet he only left when Zuko did. Did he plan for Zuko to take the throne from the start? What was his plan before Aang showed up? Did he not intervene in the Agni Kai because he was afraid, or because he knew that Ozai was making a huge mistake and didn't want to interrupt? Give me chessmaster Iroh please.

“Zuko never violated Katara’s boundaries unlike Aang”
Zuko dick-sucking at its finest.

There was this one reblog on SokkaStyles response to my post (as shown here, along with my response to SokkaStyles).
And let me just say, that dumbassery in that reboot legit pissed me off. Why, you ask? Well take look.

I don’t know what to say. This is definitely in the running for the WORST Zutara stan take I’ve seen. These people seem to think crossing boundaries only seems to involve kissing people. My goodness these people are stupid.
“Zuko never continued to intentionally cross her boundaries after she expressed discomfort”
Buddy, Zuko had invaded Katara’s home, kidnapped her and tied her to a tree, used some animal to paralyze her, shot fire at her knocking her out. Even when saving Katara he didn’t know when to get TF off her.
“The closest moment of potential discomfort with Zuko's actions or words they have is in S1 with the pirates, where Katara is tied to the tree and Zuko tries to entice her into revealing where Aang is with her mother's necklace. He gets up in her personal space from behind, but quickly steps in front of her to address her once she refuses to give him the information she wants.”
The amount of Zuko dicksucking in this post is insane. My man is literally tying Katara to a tree and using a personal belonging against her, “getting in her personal space” as OP admits, but hey he stops when he realizes he cant get any information out of her, what a good boy.
“Even as enemies, Zuko had always respected Katara's boundaries and when she expressed a desire to not be in a situation near him any longer (being tied to a tree as an enemy notwithstanding).”
I LOATHE, this “even as enemies Zuko respected Katara” BS, NO he didn’t. As I said before, Zuko had invaded Katara’s home, kidnapped her and tied her to a tree, used some animal to paralyze her, shot fire at her knocking her out. How is any of this respectful. Y’all are delusional dumbasses. Also love how OP is going out of his way to make a kidnapping sound as pleasant and gentlemanly as possible, they must have Stockholm Syndrome or something.
“(Zuko) steps away to give her space, which is more than Aang did in Ember Island Players”.
Zutara fanatics once again admitting they never actually watched the show.
I HATE having to defend Aang, because as I said before, him kissing Katara WAS wrong and I wish we saw them reconcile on-screen.
BUT…
When Aang kisses Katara, she backs away (he isn’t forcefully holding her or anything) she rightfully tells Aang “TF did I just say” and dips. Does Aang pursue her again, NO. Does he try to kiss her again, NO. Once Katara makes it clear that she didn’t like that, he GETS IT! He gives her space. Just like OP says Zuko did, only Aang isn’t the one grabbing Katara by the wrist and tying her up.
I get kissing someone without consent is a touchy subject. But I can’t take Zutara losers whining about it seriously, because they’ll go above and beyond to make a kidnapping look respectful and romantic even, but will take a 12 year old giving a poorly timed kiss and act like he’s a “budding sex-criminal”, yes that’s an actual quote from the-badger-mole.
Aang haters are morons.
Goodnight everybody.

I am led to wonder to what extent (if any) Iroh invested so much of himself into Zuko for Zuko's own sake, vs Zuko as a replacement goldfish for Lu Ten.
I think a lot of the discussion about Iroh’s disdain and hatred for Azula misses the real substance of the issue: Iroh not caring what happens to her is only a subset of him not caring about what happens to any child not named Zuko, as we most notably see with Aang, Sokka, and Katara. Iroh doesn’t care about children suffering in general; he only cares about Zuko suffering.
